Will Lab Corp Do Blood Draws for Outside Testing

lynnp Member (female) Join Date: May 2005 Posts: 95	Where can I get blood drawn for IGENEX test? I took the plunge and ordered a test kit from Igenex. My husband asked what I wanted for Christmas and I told him a blood test. I don't know whether to be sad or happy about it. Other women get furs and diamonds, and I'm getting a blood test. I'm sure a lot of you can relate. Anywayy, I have the kit, the doctors order, and now the money and am all set to go. However, I don't know how to begin. Do I go to my blood drawing lab that I usually go to (Quest) and ask them to draw blood for me? Will they charge me for this service? Do I send the drawn blood myself, or does it have to come from the lab? Will they know what I am talking about when I go? I can't go to my LLMD because they are 5 states away and don't have an appointment for a while. I need to go somewhere local. And I am pretty sure my GP won't do it. This is huge for me, I feel very overwhelmed by the whole thing, and need any help you can give me!

As I always say, if one doesn't have their health, they have nothing. What good is furs and diamonds if you don't feel good enough to wear them? Anyway, don't go to Quest! First of all, I don't think Quest will do it because it's a conflict of labs. I can not believe your GP won't draw the blood, shame on him/her. I would get out the Yellow Pages and look for another Family Doctor and start making telephone calls. Do you have any neighbors that you are friendly with that could recommend a compassionate doctor? Even though I am not that close with my neighbors, I do call them up when I really need a recommendation about a doctor, a Vet, etc. Let us know what happens and good luck to you! Hi Lynnp I think we can all relate about the Christmas present as we all have to spend out of pocket for tests and treatments. This is a necessity and you need to find out what you are dealing with and get on the road to health. You took the first step....... good for you. Quest and Lab Corp will draw the blood for a small fee (I think $10-$15). You have to bring them the kit with all info filled out. They will not give you the blood and they have to mail it for you. I need to have my daughter tested and since her pediatrician does not do blood draws I may have to go this route. The other option is to ask your GP to do it for you. I don't know why they wouldn't. They will probabally charge a blood draw fee also. Only problem with this is you have to make sure you are ordering correctly (your LLMD that you have the appointment with can help you) and hope the lab sending will do so correctly. I would want to have the results when I saw the LLMD so there is not any delays in starting treatment. Wish you the best of luck and keep us posted on your results. Kim

Hi Lynnp, Frist of all I'd like to say, I'm getting the same present for Christmas. My test will go MDL in N.J. Quest has drawn blood for me before. The charge was $25. I waited because she needed to spin the blood or something like that. I took the sample home and FedEx picked it up. A shipping lable comes with the kit. This was an Igenex test. I am not sure what state your in...I am in CA and we have labcorp that will take most insurance to do the draw and mail it out for you... we do have to provide the kits though. I also found a local place that does this too (labcorp is 60 miles from us) and they even bill the insurance for the draw and then we pay out of pocket then file for reimbursment for our igenex test. Good luck! Also make sure you read the draw info.... igenex will not accept deliveries on certain days.... plan to draw on a monday for arrival tuesday or wednesday for most tests! Hi all, Just wanted to say the reason I said to stay away from Quest is because they have so many lawsuits against them because they mix up other people's blood and personally, I don't trust them. Dianne, what you did was smart waiting for the blood and mailing it out yourself. This way you know it was the right blood and it was going to IgeneX. I went to my local Labcorp and had them draw the blood. This whole process, going to a doctor 5 states away by plane, being on all of these antibiotics, etc. can be very overwhelming. Having to have that blood test was putting me over the top. All of you made it easier! Thanks ever so much!
